IBM pledged up to $50 million in quantum system access over five years to DOE national labs and their academic collaborators, powered by its 156-qubit Heron and 120-qubit Nighthawk processors, and was separately selected to lead a Genesis Mission project on agentic AI-driven quantum algorithm discovery. This is a compute-access commitment, not a cash grant, and comes alongside Microsoft's parallel $60 million Azure/AI credit pledge to the same initiative.

IBM is now doing double duty on Genesis Mission: supplying the compute infrastructure other companies (like Infleqtion, above) will use for their own DOE-funded projects, while also running its own funded research thread.

 "$50 million in access" is an in-kind commitment valued at IBM's own list prices, not cash out the door. That's a materially cheaper way to look generous in a federal initiative than Infleqtion's position as an actual awardee.
