D-Wave Partners With Nasdaq Verafin To Explore Quantum Computing For Financial Crime Detection
D-Wave (Nasdaq: QBTS) and Nasdaq Verafin, whose Financial Crime Management Technology is used by more than 2,800 financial institutions representing $13 trillion in collective assets, announced an agreement to develop a proof-of-concept applying D-Wave's annealing quantum technology to fraud, scam, and money-laundering detection. The initial phase will analyze hundreds of data signals across account activity, transaction patterns, and counterparty networks, with potential to expand into pilot applications. No contract value or timeline to pilot was disclosed.
Nasdaq Verafin's existing customer base gives D-Wave a large, credible potential distribution channel in financial services if this moves past proof-of-concept, a sector D-Wave has been actively courting following the AT&T deal covered earlier in this feed.
This is explicitly a proof-of-concept stage agreement, one step earlier than the AT&T deal, which already had a measured speedup result. No performance claim exists yet here. Worth revisiting once (or if) this produces an actual benchmarked result rather than staying at the "exploring potential" stage.
