Infleqtion receives £9M from Innovate UK to turn its quantum radio-sensing technology into a usable product
The £9M award, about $12M, funds the second phase of QuDiFi. The project is developing Quantum Spectrum-DF, a system that uses atoms and light to detect the direction of radio signals instead of relying on large antenna systems. Leonardo is working on the project. An earlier prototype has already been tested, and this next phase aims to build a stronger, more reliable product that can work in real-world conditions.
This is funding for quantum sensing research and development, not revenue from selling a finished product. For comparison, NASA awarded Infleqtion a $20M follow-on contract on Aug. 27.
Funding to develop a product is not the same as a customer buying that product. Leonardo's statement focuses on continuing research to evaluate the technology. The next milestone to watch is an actual customer purchase order.
