Infleqtion announced a 2027 field test of its quantum gravity gradiometry (QGG) technology in Colorado, aimed at improving underground mapping of critical mineral deposits before costly drilling begins. The work builds on Infleqtion's support for the Quantum-Enhanced Critical Minerals Mapping Act of 2026 (H.R. 9646), which would direct the USGS to incorporate QGG into its national mapping initiative; CEO Matt Kinsella testified before the House Committee on Natural Resources in July in support of the bill. Site selection within Colorado's Third Congressional District is still underway.

This directly ties Infleqtion's own hardware to a live piece of federal legislation the company is actively lobbying for, if H.R. 9646 passes, USGS becomes a large, durable potential customer for exactly this sensing technology. It's also part of the broader critical-minerals-independence push getting attention across Washington this year.

A 2027 field test with no site chosen yet is early-stage, this is Infleqtion positioning itself ahead of legislation that hasn't passed, not confirming a contract. Worth revisiting once H.R. 9646's status changes or a specific test site and date get locked in.
