Rigetti Makes Optimization Solvers 100x Faster
Rigetti and Purdue University published research showing that data from quantum circuits can help standard computer solvers, such as Gurobi, find near-optimal solutions up to 100 times faster on hard optimization problems.
In this case, the quantum computer does not solve the problem itself. Instead, it speeds up a classical solver on a real, industrially relevant problem, a more near-term use of the technology than outright quantum advantage claims.
This is confirmed through arXiv and Rigetti's own research page, making it real and reproducible. It represents quantum computing as an accelerant to classical tools rather than a replacement, a useful distinction when weighing it against bigger claims elsewhere in the field.
