New York State launched a request for proposals worth $60 million to establish regional quantum technology commercialization hubs, roughly twice the size of the NIS 100 million (~$33M) integration center call Israel's Innovation Authority opened earlier this year, covered in this feed. No operator, selection timeline, or specific technical requirements were disclosed in the initial announcement.

This is a genuinely sizable state-level commitment, the largest state-level quantum commercialization program we've tracked so far. But it's at the exact same stage we flagged as a placeholder for Israel's Project Nexus: a request for proposals, not a funded, operating entity. Being twice the size of Israel's program doesn't change that; it just means there's more money sitting behind the same "nothing's actually happened yet" starting line.

Following the same pattern as Israel's tender, this deserves a placeholder note now and a real writeup once an operator or specific recipient is actually named, not before. The size comparison is worth keeping in view though, if New York moves faster than Israel did to actually select an operator, that gap in execution speed, not just committed dollars, is the more interesting story to come back to.
